Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Description

Tervela seeks an outstanding Senior Quality Assurance Engineer with at least 5 years of experience. The applicant needs to have an aptitude for real time systems and low latency designs. Must be highly motivated and able to take a project through final test and qualification. Must possess a strong working knowledge of test tools, including both open source and packaged software and be able to lead by example with strong hands on skills. Capable of working in a laboratory setting to test and debug systems. Candidate should be familiar with operating systems, network equipment, hardware testing and configuration concepts.

Required Skills & Experience

Programming and Scripting (Know or be quick to learn)
Be experienced at qualifying products and participating from concept through completion including product definition, specification, design, testing.
Linux and Windows testing

Software Development Engineer

The Company: Tervela is seeking motivated candidates to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment providing broad exposure to a variety of technologies. Tervela provides hardware and software accelerated middleware to finance and other firms that are demanding customers. The company builds platforms for switching, routing, persisting, and provisioning message oriented middleware infrastructure. Our products are available as physical appliances but also run in the cloud as virtual appliances.

Job Description: Tervela seeks two Software Development engineers with 0-4 years of software development experience. Although the candidate can be entry level, the applicant needs to have an aptitude for real time systems and low latency designs. This Engineer must be highly motivated engineer able to take a project from development through final test and qualification. Experience with required C or C++ is required. Candidates that are recent graduates may be offered a 3 month internship that may lead to full time employment.

The first position will focus on the development of APIs, system software and contribute to high level management system GUI development. It is desirable if the applicant also has database experience. Language experience with C# and Java is desirable. Our APIs run on Multiple OS’s so being familiar with Windows, Solaris as well as Linux is desirable.

The second position will focus on the continued development and testing of our core product appliances. This candidate should be comfortable developing complex systems and should be familiar with low level programming built on Linux.

Skill summary:

Senior Software Engineer (Tervela Inc.: Acton, Massachusetts)

Tervela seeks a Senior Software Engineer who can hit the road running and architect and develop a fully compliant Java Message Service (JMS) API optimized for low latency performance into the Tervela message fabric. Working with other staff engineers, the Senior Software Engineer will provide industry perspective to optimize our design, develop JMS extensions, and support logging for tracing, performance and diagnostic recording capabilities.

The Senior Software Engineer will also be responsible for developing sample applications for QA functional/performance test and validation of the API, customer sample applications to demonstrate API usage, and work with test automation engineers to support the development of automated test applications. In addition, the Senior Software Engineer will support the development of documentation via Javadoc and develop test and qualification plans. Must be able to take a project from development through final test and qualification.

Minimum requirements are: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. Will also consider Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field plus 5 years of relevant experience including messaging experience in lieu of a Master’s degree.

Must have: Proven ability with Java, JEE and Java business integration. Solid knowledge of JMS programming interface and architecture. Proven ability with systems and network programming in C and analyzing and making appropriate design decisions regarding software/hardware tradeoffs. Proven ability implementing real-time programming in high performance low latency APIs and developing multi OS APIs.
