TITLE: Senior Software Engineer
LOCATION: Acton
ROLE/RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to the Applications Enabling Services Manager, the Sr. Software Engineer will be responsible for design and development of features and enhancements for the Tervela Messaging Solution Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Tervela is developing an enterprise-class messaging application that is a highly scalable performance application platform. The successful candidate will be part of a small team and must be able to work both independently and within a team environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS

Strong C-language programming skills required and experience with either C# or core Java

Experience developing on Linux is required
-
Significant experience in full cycle development of enterprise-class application infrastructure or frameworks
-
Work closely with management and team members to coordinate assignments and communicate progress and/or difficulties
-
Strong understanding of messaging techniques is a plus

Experience with the full product life cycle within a software environment (design, planning, programming, debugging, and testing)

Demonstrated ability to deliver finished products within tight schedules/deadlines

Experience in developing and executing unit and system integration test plans, and the ability to support user acceptance testing with associated software modifications

Strong analytical and investigative skills, as well as strong collaborative skills, will be necessary for success in this position

Experience using a version control system

Assist with other duties as assigned
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS

Experience developing on Windows (2000 or later) desired

Experience using performance profiling tools strongly desired

Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)

Self motivated and proven ability to work within a team environment EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

BSCS or equivalent, plus 4-7 years experience in middleware development, i.e. APIs, messaging software, distributed systems, or networking software

Experience as a member of a multi-person software development team

Must be able to work independently or on a team project
