TITLE: Advanced Manufacturing Engineer
LOCATION: Acton, MA
ROLE/RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for taking product designs and plan the manufacturing processes for successful production of the Tervela messaging appliance. This will involve working with our contract manufacturer regarding: validation, protocols, instructions, labor standards, inventory plans and product specifications. They will work closely with both engineering and our manufacturing contractor to execute production of the Tervela message switch.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Influence and introduce design quality configurations, which can be manufactured cost effectively for our customers
- Utilize a New Product Introduction criteria for the following: manufacturing process development, tool design, integrated schedules, design to cost, sourcing technical support, quality qualifications, test support, product cost out, and P&E and introduction into the supply chain
- Provide technical leadership for manufacturing processes such as large machining, turnkey machine installation, investment & sand castings, EDM/laser/ECM process development, inspection and testing, metal joining (advanced welding & brazing), and tool & fixture design
- Support manufacturing engineering projects requiring development of specifications, supplier management, purchase, installation and qualification of manufacturing equipment
- Thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic equipment production and current test methodologies.
- Drive development and implementation of the manufacturing test strategy of sub-assemblies and end products
- Develop testing methods, programs, and procedures to automatically test sub-assemblies and completed products and evaluate effectiveness of existing test programs
- Manage effectively multiple priorities under tight deadlines and bring assignments to successful completion
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- BSEE or equivalent, plus 5 years experience in engineering and/or test engineering
- Experience in a project leadership position within an engineering, and/or manufacturing
- Minimum of 5 years experience reading and understanding technical specifications, blueprints and bills of material
- Current technical knowledge of the latest trends in manufacturing technology and the ability to apply and adapt the technology to new situations
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional organization
- Eager to learn new technologies and methodologies
- High energy and self motivated
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work within a fast paced team environment
- Strong skills for problem isolation and recreation
