Data Fabric – In-Fabric Services

Offload the Compexity to Tervela

Building real-time, distributed, global applications is much easier than ever before when you build them atop Tervela's Data Fabric. That's because we take care of the complexity inherent in moving data securely and reliably over long distances.

Tervela's Data Fabric offers a set of powerful services built directly into the fabric that applications can leverage for reliable, high-performance data transport. These services are accessible through Tervela's client API and easily configured through the management console.

Last-Known Value

Sometimes you have data values that are made available network-wide - for example, the last-known traded value of a financial asset. What happens if part of your network goes down? With Tervela, this last-known value is maintained system-wide, even in the event of network disruptions. The Data Fabric is aware of its connected state and can ensure that values are kept in sync until connectivity returns.

User & Data Security

Access policies can be established based on user entitlements, subscriptions, or individual topics. This creates a security and protection framework that is based both on the nature of the data being transported and the user or application who is accessing that data or data channel. Because Tervela's Data Fabric builds security directly into the infrastructure, you don't have to re-invent or re-create complex security protocols as part of your application.

Intelligent Routing

The Data Fabric itself provides intelligent routing services to make sure that data gets where it needs to be quickly and efficiently. Whether data is being unicast or multicast, the fabric knows who is producing it and who needs to consume it, and can adjust internal networking routes in real-time to make sure that data is put on just those routes that lead to authorized consumers, and kept off all the others.

No-Loss Reliability

Once a packet of information is placed on the fabric, you can be sure that it won't be lost. Tervela's Data Fabric handles all types of failure scenarios so that you don't have to build fault-tolerance as part of your application. Tervela employs redundant componentry for internal hardware failures like disk drives or power supplies, redundant devices for topological blockages, internal storage and persistence to handle network failures or data bursts, and replay services for streaming data for reconciliation purposes.

Embedded Persistence

Tervela's embedded persistence layer is like having redundant databases built into your network, capturing traffic and retrieving it when necessary. With the Tervela TPM-500 Persistence Engine you get highly-optimized, flexible, built-in storage directly inside your Data Fabric. This is critically important for ensuring the resiliancy and flexibility of the entire system, and it means that you don't have to employ your own storage systems, databases, and persistence layers throughout your application.

Efficient Bandwidth Control

Tervela's Data Fabric contains multiple technologies to ensure that bandwidth is consumed efficiently and intelligently. By segregating publishers from subscribers, Tervela ensures that data is not needlessly sent to consumers who are not subscribed. Efficient multicast routing also eliminates a tremendous amount of unnecessarily transmitted data. And Tervela can absorb huge bursts close to the source, efficiently disemminating data according to your configured policies. These innovations and others make sure that even in the era of Big Data, your network isn't overwhelmed.
