Robert Cramer, CEO
Bob Cramer is CEO of Tervela and has more than 26 years of experience in high-growth, venture-backed businesses. Prior to his role at Tervela, Cramer was President and CEO of LiveVault, a pioneer in software-as-a-service targeting the IT Market. LiveVault was acquired by Iron Mountain in 2005. He was also CEO of FirstSense, a category-leading application performance management vendor that was acquired by Concord Communications. Before that, he was General Manager of the process manufacturing business at Marcam Corporation, a $200 million publicly traded enterprise application software company, and President and CEO of SET. He has also held senior marketing and sales positions at Oracle Corporation, CenterLine Software and Ingres. Cramer started his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories and holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a Master's Degree from the University of California at Berkeley. He is also a private investor, board member and advisor to several organizations.

J. Barry Thompson, Founder and Chief Technology Officer
An entrepreneur and innovator, Barry Thompson brings more than 18 years experience to Tervela Inc, a company he co-founded in 2004 in which he serves as Chief Technology Officer and board member. A self-taught technologist, he began his career as a consultant, designing solutions ranging from embedded robotics and imaging to traditional enterprise systems. His clients included MCI, American Mobile Satellite, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other government and private organizations. In 1995 he moved to Wall Street, leading the adoption of new transformative technologies in the financial services industry while working for firms such as AIG, NatWest and UBS where he was Head of North American Architecture. In 2002, Thompson began to pursue his passion for emerging technologies through incubating research projects in materials manufacturing and carbon nanotube growth, virtual reality and gaming infrastructure. Thompson also joined the X-Prize Foundation where he currently serves on the board of trustees and the executive committee. He is a 2001 graduate of the International Space University SSP.

Stephen Cummings, Vice President of Engineering
Steve Cummings brings to Tervela over 25 years of engineering, operational and manufacturing experience. Prior to Tervela, he was the VP of Engineering at Walkabout Computers, a mobile computing company where he created the technical vision for engineering and designed and delivered a new generation of products. Walkabout was acquired in 2005 by DRS Tactical Systems. Previously, Cummings developed and grew the engineering divisions of other startup companies including Infiniswitch and PictureTel. Cummings provided leadership and vision while consistently bringing products to market on time and under budget, increasing revenue and enhancing the value of these companies. Prior to this, Cummings had 17 years experience at IBM, during which time he managed over 1,000 engineers developing the first AIX product release. He also provided individual contributions to both IBM and Honeywell architecture and design, where he designed and holds the SNA Patent for IBM. Cummings received his BSEE from Iowa State University and was awarded his MSEE from the University of Minnesota.

Robert Ciampa, Vice President of Marketing
Rob Ciampa brings over 20 years of experience successfully designing, marketing and delivering leading-edge technology solutions to global markets. He joined Tervela from Trusted Network Technologies, the leader in identity-based networking, where he served as VP of Marketing. An early operating systems engineer for Hewlett-Packard and a former switch and router designer for Synernetics (which was acquired by 3Com), Ciampa moved on to marketing and has since continued to effectively bring award winning, revenue-generating solutions to the world’s most demanding customers. He co-founded NetEffect where he was VP of Marketing and Business Development, and it became one of world’s largest specialized systems integration firms. He later went on to Access360 and was instrumental in its acquisition by IBM, where he was responsible for growing global channel sales and managing worldwide marketing and operations for enterprise-class middleware portfolios. Ciampa has a BS in Computer Science and an MS in Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, as well as an MBA from Boston University. He holds two patents in information technology management.

Peter Smith, Vice President of Sales
Pete Smith brings 20 years of sales, marketing and consulting experience to Tervela. Prior to joining Tervela, he was the Director of Strategic Relationships at ClearCube Technology where he led the creation of the company’s financial services sector. Smith was ClearCube’s leading revenue producer and created a foundation of marquee customers, including 5 of the top 10 securities companies in the US. He was responsible for doubling the company’s revenue for two consecutive years. Before this, he developed and managed a consulting practice for Teradata focused on the turnaround of failed enterprise data warehouses. Before this, he worked in consulting for NCR’s Global Information and Technology Architecture practice, focusing on Fortune 500 companies. Smith was also a Sales Executive for NCR Corporation, where his focus was on major account selling, turnaround of lost/problem accounts and development of new revenue streams through new product introductions. He earned top awards all seven years of sales eligibility despite new product and account responsibilities every 8 to 14 months.

Stephen Johnson, Chief Financial Officer
Steve Johnson has more than 30 years of financial management experience, much of that with both private and public high-technology growth companies. Previously, he was CFO for ManageSoft Corporation, a private multinational software company specializing in dynamic software management and compliance solutions. During his tenure, he facilitated the internal transition from an Australian to a U.S.-based company with headquarters in Boston. Before ManageSoft, he was CFO at Centra Software, Inc., a public $40 million provider of application software and services for real-time enterprise collaboration. He helped to lead Centra through two rounds of venture financing and a successful $80 million IPO. Previously, he was the Director of Finance, Worldwide Field Operations for Avid Technology, Inc and was an Audit Supervisor at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Johnson has a BA in Finance and Administration from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA in Finance from Babson College. He is a CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Financial Executives International.
