Eric Schnadig, Chief Executive Officer

Eric Schnadig is an accomplished senior executive with extensive experience building and leading public and private companies in high growth markets. Schnadig joined Tervela in 2009 from Unica Corporation, a worldwide provider of enterprise software, where he served as SVP of Worldwide Sales and Business Development and grew annual revenues from $3 million to more than $120 million. At Unica, he was responsible for sales execution, channel and distribution strategy, and business process establishment, all of which helped lead to a successful IPO of the company in 2005. Unica was purchased by IBM in 2010 for over $450M. Schnadig previously was a senior sales and marketing executive at Kenan Systems Corporation, the leading provider of billing software to global communications companies. While at Kenan Schnadig helped grow annual revenues from $10 million to more than $300 million, leading to a $1.5 billion acquisition by Lucent. Schnadig is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Swarthmore College, is fluent in multiple languages and serves as a board member and advisor to private companies and not-for profit organizations.

J. Barry Thompson, Founder and Chief Technology Officer

Entrepreneur and visionary Barry Thompson founded Tervela in 2004 and serves as Chief Technology Officer and board member.  With close to 20 years experience, Thompson is a self-taught technologist and began his career designing solutions ranging from embedded robotics and imaging to traditional enterprise systems. His clients included MCI, American Mobile Satellite, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other government and private organizations. In 1995 he moved to Wall Street, leading the adoption of new transformative technologies in the financial services industry for companies including AIG, NatWest and UBS.  At UBS he served as Head of North American Architecture.  Thompson then continued to pursue his passion for emerging technologies through incubating research projects in materials manufacturing and carbon nanotube growth, virtual reality and gaming infrastructure. Thompson serves on the board of trustees and executive committee for the X-Prize Foundation. He is a graduate of the International Space University SSP.

Michael Leeolou, Vice President of Sales

With over 25 years of experience in enterprise sales and executive management, Mike Leeolou brings a proven track record, strong relationships, and first-class leadership to Tervela.  Previously with GridApp Systems as Vice President of Sales, he was responsible for driving record revenue results that eventually led to GridApp’s acquisition by BMC. Leeolou also served as Vice President of North American Sales Operations at CA, Inc., negotiating multi-million dollar ELAs and restructuring the company’s Customer Relations Organization. He has held senior-level sales management positions at Graphnet, Inc., and InterAct Marketing, managing national organizations and closing complex sales for those companies. Leeolou holds a B.S. in Health Science from SUNY at Cortland.

Stephen Cummings, Vice President of Engineering

Steve Cummings brings more than 25 years of engineering, operational and manufacturing experience to Tervela.  Prior to Tervela, he served as VP of Engineering of mobile computing company Walkabout Computers (acquired by DRS Tactical Systems), where he developed the technical vision for engineering and led the design and delivery of a new generation of products. Previously, Cummings developed and grew the engineering divisions of other startup companies including Infiniswitch and PictureTel. Cummings provided leadership and vision while consistently bringing products to market on time and under budget, increasing revenue and enhancing the value of these companies. Prior to this, Cummings spent 17 years at IBM, where he managed more than 1,000 engineers that developed the first AIX product release. He also provided individual contributions to both IBM and Honeywell architecture and design, where he designed and holds the SNA Patent for IBM. Cummings received his BSEE from Iowa State University and was awarded his MSEE from the University of Minnesota.

Pierre Fraval, Vice President of Product and Customer Solutions

Pierre Fraval brings 15 years of high-performance real-time distributed systems experience in the networking industry to his leadership role at Tervela. Pierre joined Tervela in 2005 as a founding team member. For the past 6 years, Pierre led product architecture as Tervela’s Chief Architect. He now leads pre-sales, post-sales and customer support functions. Prior to Tervela, he held key engineering roles at several early stage startups including RouteScience, a leader in hardware and software application acceleration and route optimization technology, which was acquired by Avaya. At MATRAnet (acquired by EADS Telecom), Pierre designed, built and deployed firewall, IPsec VPN and IDS network security products. He started his software engineering career at Hewlett-Packard in the Enterprise Networking & Security business unit. Pierre graduated from the National School of Advanced Technologies (ENSTA) in Paris, France.

Susan C. Marrano, Corporate Controller

Susan Marrano joined Tervela in May of 2008 and is responsible for overseeing the finance and accounting, legal and human resources functions of Tervela. Susan brings more than 20 years of operational and consulting experience to Tervela beginning her career with Data General, McCormack and Dodge and privately owned Microsystems Software, creator of Cyber Patrol, where she oversaw operations and the sale of the company to the Learning Company. Susan consulted in her own practice for ten years and held the interim role of CFO and VP of Finance for several public and private high technology companies in Massachusetts.  Susan received her B.A from the University of Massachusetts and attended graduate studies at Northeastern University.  She is a member of the University of Massachusetts Entrepreneurial Advisory Board.
