Our New Distributed Application Development Kit
Today we announced the official release of Tervela’s version 5.0 suite of products. One of the most exciting things in this release is our new virtual appliance kit, which we’ve made freely available to anyone who wants to build a high-performance distributed application.
This is the first time that someone can actually download and run an advanced messaging platform on a local PC (see the requirements here). In the past, platforms like this were only available if you purchased the hardware, which isn’t always economical. But with this virtual appliance kit, you can do a few things with the data fabric:
- Learn about the data fabric. The idea of a data fabric that serves distributed data with built-in fault-tolerance and security (amongst other things) is new for some people. So what better way to see how powerful it is than to actually download it and try it?
- Equip Dev, QA, and Pre-Prod Centers. Since the virtual appliances are 100% interoperable with our hardware appliances, you can build out different environments like development, QA, or pre-production much more cost-effectively.
- Connect low-volume sites on the fabric. Tervela’s hardware appliances scale to support the most demanding applications. However, sometimes you have lower-volume sites that don’t have the same performance requirements, but still need to access the same data as the rest of the network. A virtual appliance is an excellent and cost-effective solution for these situations.
